Church Ministries

 

  Food/Clothing Pantry – a ministry of provision designed to obtain food, clothing and other items as needed (i.e. bedding, school supplies, etc.) for distribution to render relief to those in need.   

  Culinary (Fish & Loaves) – a ministry of provisions that prepares tasty meals for special church related activities and events, and prepares and deliver balanced meals to the sick and shut-in when appropriate.  

  Ushers & Greeters – a ministry of helps designed to welcome and assistance visitors and members courteously and lovingly as they enter the church campus.  Assistance is further rendered during and after the worship experience through the acts of seating, distributing worship guides and meeting any other need that may occur while visiting the church campus.   

  Health & Wellness – a ministry of physical wellness designed to provide helpful tips to enhance the physical wellbeing of the body, mind and soul, to enhance awareness of health issues and concerns, and to provide general health and nutritional information.   

  Hospitality – a ministry of comfort and warmth designed to welcome, embrace and extend the hand of friendship to visitors, and the Church family while visiting the City or visiting Saint Luke.   

  Media Ministry – a ministry of information and sound technology that captures the worship services and other church related activities through audio/video recording and photography.  The Media Ministry is also responsible for the technical operation of the sound system.   

  Men’s Ministry – a ministry designed to enhance the development of discipleship, stewardship and spiritual growth of men of all ages within the church and throughout the community.  The Men’s Ministry is also project oriented where Christian men work together to address common concerns and issues that may impact the community at large.    

  Mentoring & Tutoring – a ministry of helps for students within the community of all grade levels to provide spiritual and emotional support; and to provide professional teaching assistance to help promote academic excellence.   

  New Member’s Class – a ministry of new beginnings that provides a biblical foundation for discipleship, stewardship, praise and worship to help promote spiritual wholeness, and an introduction to the Doctrine and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and an introduction to the protocol of the Saint Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church for new members of Saint Luke, and for current members who desire a refresher course.  

  Political Empowerment – a ministry of empowerment through the process of sharing information of a political nature on a national, state or local level that may impact the church and/or the community spiritually, socially, and/or financially.  

  Prayer Support – a ministry of Sacred communication that engages in intercessory  prayer for the Pastor, the Church, the community, national and local leaders, and specific situations and circumstances.   

  Prison Ministry – an outreach ministry of concern designed to extend a helping and loving hand to those who are incarcerated and have been incarcerated. 

  Program Coordinator – a ministry of administration designed to facilitate the organization of special events and activities by interacting with the appropriate person (s), enhancing communication between various groups/persons, and orchestrating and securing any materials, services, etc., to meet the needs and requirements to ensure a successful interaction.  

  Public Relations – a ministry of correspondence designed to gather and disseminate information of public interest to the secular and religious press, radio and television, and other legitimate media of public information as it relates to Church activities and events. 

  Sick-&-Shut-In Ministry – an outreach ministry of encouragement designed to contact and visit the sick, by telephone, written media (cards, letters, etc.), and visitation.  

  Willing Workers – a ministry of helps designed for the interaction of the more seasoned Saints to study God’s word and support the church spiritually, physically and financially. 

  Ministry to Women – a ministry designed to enhance the development of discipleship, stewardship and the spiritual growth of women of all ages within the church and throughout the community, to address issues and concerns pertaining to women and children, and to recognize the call of women into Church leadership universally.    

  Transportation – a ministry of mobility designed to assist in the physical transportation of anyone requesting travel assistance to and from worship services and other church related events/activities. 

  Young Educated Savers (YES) – a ministry of financial stewardship designed to educate and encourage youth between the ages 5–18 to practice sound biblical stewardship principles through tithing, giving, and saving.  The ministry also allows youth who are members of Saint Luke to purchase US Saving bonds at a discount. 

  Youth On The Move – a ministry of discipleship designed to meet the spiritual needs of children and youth through the teaching of biblical principles and Christian values.

o    Children’s Church – a ministry of instruction that teaches the Bible message to children between the ages of 4-11 at a level that coincides with their age and grade levels during the Sunday morning worship experience.

o    Spring Break Camp – a ministry of helps designed to provide a healthy supervised Christian environment for children during the Spring Break vacation. 

  College Ministry – a ministry designed to enrich the lives of college students through vibrant Bible study, general discussions on Christian values and issues of life that impact the community personally, locally and globally, and various other activities.  The College Ministry also assists high-school students prepare for college and employment.     

  The Ministry of Music

o    Saint Luke Praise Team – an organized group of psalmist leading praise and worship through song  

o    Unity of Praise – a co-ed choir ministering through songs of praise and worship.

o    Male Chorus – men of all ages ministering through songs of praise and worship.

o    Youth Choir – youth from 2-18 ministering through songs of praise and worship. 

  Dance

o    Anointed By Christ (ABC [Praise and Liturgical]) – Daughters of the King between the ages 12–17 expressing their love for God in the form of interpretative dancing.

o    Warriors For Christ (Mime) – Sons of the King praising God in the form of interpretative dancing.

o    Work In Progress [Praise and Liturgical]) – Daughters of the King between the ages 18–35 expressing their love for God in the form of interpretative dancing.

o    Praise In Motion [Praise and Liturgical]) – Daughters of the King 50 years and older expressing their love for God in the form of interpretative dancing.
